Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday applauded the surgical strikes conducted across the Line of Control in Pakistan following a ceasefire violation in Kashmir.
“We stand with the Government in its actions to protect country’s security,” Sonia Gandhi said.
“Party hopes Pakistan will recognise that it bears a great responsibility in continuing cross-border terrorist attacks against India,” Gandhi added.
“Congress expects that Pakistan will take effective action to dismantle infra of terrorism that it has supported,” she added.

Several senior Congress leaders had earlier held a meeting with Gandhi on Thursday on the surgical strikes.
The strikes were conducted after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC at various locations including Poonch on Wednesday.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also called for an all party meeting shortly after the incident. The meeting is currently underway.
