Top leaders of various political parties including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Akhilesh Yadav are set to address rallies in different parts of Uttar Pradesh to woo voters.
The third phase will be a litmus test for the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP), specially Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, since most seats were held by the party in 2012 and are in the Yadav pocket boroughs.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed public meetings at Barabanki and Hardoi and lashed out at the Samajwadi Party government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Addressing a rally in Mainpuri, Akhilesh questioned the Prime Minister about the black money collected post demonetisation.
