BSP Workers Hold Massive Protest, Seek Dayashanakar's Arrest
BSP workers on Thursday staged a protest in Hazratganj area here demanding the arrest of BJP leader Dayashanakar Singh for making derogatory remarks against party supremo Mayawati.

BSP workers on Thursday staged a protest in Hazratganj area here demanding the arrest of BJP leader Dayashanakar Singh for making derogatory remarks against party supremo Mayawati.

The workers held a protest before the Ambedkar statue in Hazratganz area.

BSP workers from different districts have been asked to reach the state capital to lodge a strong protest against the remarks made by the BJP leader, the party said.

At least 500 to 1000 workers from each district started arriving in the night itself.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh police has reached Dayashankar’s residence in Ballia district to arrest him. But, he wasn’t there.

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Wednesday suspended Uttar Pradesh unit Vice-President Dayashankar Singh for six years following his alleged obscene comments.

Singh, at a press conference in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, had said that the BSP chief was giving party tickets based on the amount of money paid to her and that even a prostitute was better than her.

His comments caused an uproar in the Rajya Sabha with the BSP leaders leading a vociferous protest. Not happy with mere removal of Singh as party office bearer, the BSP leaders demanded his arrest.

Singh, a student leader who rose in the BJP ranks recently, had unsuccessfully contested the recent polls for the Legislative Council. Last week he was appointed the party’s Vice-President in Uttar Pradesh.
