Ruby Rai, the controversial Class XII Arts ‘topper’, a student of “Prodikal Science”, has been denied bail by court on Wednesday. She was first arrested when she appeared for a re-test at Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on June 25.
She was produced in court on June 26.
The Patna civil court has issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against four toppers including Rubi Rai.
However, on July 4, when her Class X certificate issued by the BSEB was produced, it showed her date of birth as November 15, 1998, proving her to be a minor.
Social activists had pointed out that Rubi, who was arrested on June 25, was jailed in violation of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Having been ruled a minor, on July 5, she was shifted from Beur jail to a remand home.
