Tensions continually rise between Delhi’s AAP government and the Lt Governor as the appointment of Krishna Saini as Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) Chairperson was on Wednesday declared ‘void’.
The DERC has now been directed to undergo the selection process again at the earliest in accordance with the law.
Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to register an FIR against him regarding the administrative and financial irregularities in the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
Kejriwal had also circulated several copies of the FIR where he and DCW Chief Swati Maliwal were listed as “known/suspected/unknown accused”.
He has stated that the AAP government will soon unveil the alleged conspiracy against him in a Special Session of Delhi Assembly.
Maliwal faced allegations of irregularities in the DCW and was booked on Monday by the ACB following an FIR filed by former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh.
ACB chief Mukesh Kumar Meena reports that cases under sections 13(D) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been registered against Maliwal.
