In a major breakthrough, a man suspected to have murdered a 24-year-old woman IT professional in Chennai was arrested on Friday night in Tirunelveli district.
Chennai Police Commissioner T.K. Rajendran on Saturday addressed the media, explaining the details of the case.
Accused Ram Kumar was stalking Swathi continuously, she didn’t give in to it, said Chennai Police Commissioner.
While speaking to media, Rajendran said that accused Ram kumar is a 22-year-old engineering graduate from Meenakshipuram in Tirunelveli. He slit his throat with a sharp object when the police surrounded him.
The suspect sustained around 60 percent injury and was soon admitted to the Government Hospital in Tenkasi. Doctors who examined the gash said that the injury was not serious.
After reviewing 100 pieces of CCTV footage, and checking the details of thousands of phone calls, Ram Kumar was arrested.
To instil confidence police is taking all action in city. Commissioner also said that as of now there is only one accused.
