10 Opposition Parties Unite Against Demonetisation On Parliament Day 5

Day 4 of the Winter Session of Parliament remained chaotic as protests continued against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation news resulting in multiple adjournments before both Houses were adjourned for the day.

Finding a common ground over the demonetisation issue, 10 opposition parties (Leaders of Congress, Trinamool Congress, JD(U), BSP, CPI(M), CPI, NCP, RJD, JMM and DMK) have decided to unite to take on the government inside and outside the parliament.

Government agreed to discuss the demonetisation move, but  opposition has demanded that before any discussion over demonetisation can take place, Parliament should mourn the loss of the reportedly 70 persons who have lost their life due to demonetisation and adjourned the Parliament on Day 4.

Despite demands from Congress that PM Modi be present in Rajya Sabha to discuss demonetisation, government sources have ruled out PM’s intervention in the upper House.

Opposition parties have jointly decided to stage a demonstration outside the Parliament on wednesday with around 200 MPs holding ‘dharna’ in front of Gandhi statue in Delhi.
