At least 10 Army jawans are missing after an avalanche hit Siachen’s northern glacier in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports, The soldiers were hit as they patrolled a glacier at an altitude of 5,800 metres (19,000 feet).
“In the early hours of today, 10 soldiers were hit by an avalanche at the northern Siachen Glacier while on patrol,” Colonel S D Goswami said.
Meanwhile Army has launched massive search and rescue operation to track the missing soldiers.
In a similar incident, four jawans of the Ladakh scouts had lost their lives when their patrol party got buried under a massive snow avalanche in the Siachen glacier on January 3.
