Considered to be one of the biggest acting icons of modern day, superstar Rajinikanth is a name everyone knows. After 22 years, one of his biggest hit films Baasha has been re-released in a new digitised format, to the happiness of fans everywhere.
Baasha is considered to be a movie that changed Rajinikath’s career and set the path for his defining style. The movie released initially in 1995, and co-stars Nagma, Raghuvaran, Janagaraj and Vikjayakumar.
Rajinikanth portrays the role of a humble auto driver who refuses violence until his sister is attacked, after which his past life as a gangster is revealed and unfolds. The role won him many auto-driver fans as well, as he played such a relatable character.
The movie is based on an uncut scene that was removed from the Hindi movie Hum and was expanded after Rajinikanth realised the potential of the single scene to be developed into an entire movie.
From the movie Baasha, the dialogue Naan oru vaatti sonna, nooru vaatti sonna madhiri (If I say something even once, it’s as though I’ve said it a hundred times) became famous, synonymous with the great Rajinikanth himself.
