Kannada actor-politician Ramya has been slapped with sedition charges for praising Pakistan.

Kannada actor-politician Ramya, who has been slapped with sedition charges for praising Pakistan, has refused to apologise for her comments praising Pakistan.

Ramya, whose real name is Divya Spandana, was in Pakistan for a meeting of young parliamentarians from SAARC, where she referred to Manohar Parrikar’s statement, “going to Pakistan is like going to hell” by responding that, “Pakistan is not hell. People there are just like us. They treated us very well.”

Soon after, a Karnataka-based lawyer KV Gowda filed a sedition case against her in a court in Kodagu accusing her of insulting India and praising Pakistanis.

According to reports, Judge Shyam Prakash will hear the case on August 27.
