The Madras high court on Monday issued a notice to actor R Madhavan in an alleged encroachment of a waterbody at Balasamudram village in Palani taluk in Dindigul district.
According to reports, the decision of the court came in response to a public interest litigation (PIL), filed by N Ganesan, a resident of Balasamudram.
In the PIL, Ganesan had accused the actor of encroaching on the waterbody and had accused the district collector of not taking action on his compliant.
It says ” the actor purchased 1.97 hectares of land in Balasamudram from P Rajammal on March 16 last year and subsequently encroached a supply canal (waterbody). He planted coconut and guava saplings and also installed electric posts on the land, it is alleged. Though the issue was taken to the notice of the district collector and later to the chief minister’s special cell, encroachments and electric posts were not removed.”
