The rising star of Contemporary Indian Literature, Chetan Bhagat needs no introduction.
Born and brought up in a traditional Punjabi family of Delhi, Bhagat did his graduation at IIT-Delhi. He subsequently studied at IIM-Ahmedabad and married a fellow student Anusha Suryanarayanan in 1998.
He is a writer, a columnist, a public speaker and a screenplay writer.
On his 42nd birthday here three reasons why Chetan Bhagat is the ‘man of many talents':
1. He started his career as an Investment Banker
Before becoming a writer, Chetan Bhagat worked as an investment banker with Goldman Sach in Hong Kong for eleven year. On returning to India, he shifted to Mumbai and pursued his passion for writing.
2. He switched his career to become a writer/columnist
Chetan Bhagat has authored eight novels so far. He began writing the manuscript for his first novel, Five Point Some One, while he was working as a banker. Apart from being a writer, he is also a columnist and frequently gives his opinion in leading Indian newspapers.
3. He has judged reality shows on television
Bhagat has judged two reality shows on Indian television including ‘Nach Baliye’ and ‘Voice of India Star Anchor Hunt’. He has also appeared on ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil.’
