Here is the timeline of the case:

Year 1998: Khan was accused of poaching three chinkaras and a black buck near Jodhpur in September-October while shooting for ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.

Year 2006: On 17 February, Khan was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting the Chinkara; however the sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.

Year 2006: On 10 April, he was handed a five-year jail term and remanded to Jodhpur jail until 13 April when he was granted bail.

Year 2012: On 24 July, Rajasthan High Court finalized charges against actor, paving way for start of the trial.

Year 2014: On 9 July, Supreme Court issued a notice to actor on Rajasthan government’s plea challenging the HC order suspending his conviction.

Year 2016: On 25 July, Rajasthan HC acquitted actor in the poaching cases.
