A high alert has been sounded across Uttar Pradesh in the wake of the apex court's decision to execute 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon on Thursday.
"All divisional commissioners, district magistrates and police chiefs have been directed to ensure patrolling in sensitive places. Local intelligence units have been asked to remain alert as anti-social elements might create a communal flare-up in the state," Director General of Police, Jagmohan Yadav said.

They have also been instructed to keep a check on crowded places like cinema halls, malls, bus stops and railway stations with the help of anti-sabotage and bomb disposal squads, he said, adding that no laxity will be tolerated.

"District administration has been made responsible for maintaining communal amity and law and order," he said.
