Days after being released by the newly sworn in PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, hardline separatist leader Masrat Alam has been detained by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's govenment in Srinagar along with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik.
Malik and Alam have been detained on way to Tral, where a youth, Khalid Muzaffar Wani, was killed by forces on Monday in Kamla forests.
According to police, the leaders and some of their associates were detained in order to prevent flaring up of the situation in Tral area where violent clashes were going on between protesters and security forces.
"The duo has been taken into preventive custody in order to prevent the situation in Tral," a senior police officer in Srinagar told FocusNews.com.
Hundreds of persons particularly youth pelted stones on security forces in Tral area after the funeral of Wani.
Security forces resorted to tear gas shelling and chased away the protesters, resulting in injuries to over a dozen protesters.
During the clash, protesters reportedly snatched an AK-47 rifle of a CRPF soldier.
Meanwhile, Hardline separatist leader and chairman Hurryat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani has called for a shutdown in Tral on Wednesday. He has also called for 'Tral Chalo' on Friday.
