Reliance Jio may be extending its Jio Welcome Offer till March 2017, which means that users on the network could get free 4G data up to a limit of 4GB per day until March 2017.
Although such announcements have not been made official, analysts at Motiwal Oswal believe that Reliance may extend the offer so as to attract more subscribers and reach its target of 100 million user base.
Slow down in subscriptions may be due to ongoing point of interconnectivity (POI) which is forcing users to rely on non-Jio numbers to make calls.
The POI difficulty has been taken up by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), suggesting that Airtel, Vodafone and Idea pay Rs 50 crore per circle as penalty for failing to provide POIs to Reliance Jio.
However even if Reliance extends its welcome offer, it may face difficulties in getting more users if the connectivity issue is not solved. Reliance 4G speeds on have been gradually slowing down, and according to a recent TRAI report, Jio 4G is the slowest in the country.
