Maha Village Goes Cashless: From Vada Pav To Tractor, Buy Through Card

Instead of grumbling over demonetisation, a village in Maharashtra has taken action, by transforming itself into a cashless village. From Vada Pav to tractors, everything can be paid for electronically.

Dhasai village in Thane is located 70 km from Mumbai’s Fort-Nariman Point area and acts as a financial hub for around 60 neighbouring villages.

Since people from Dhasai and 25 surrounding villages have bank accounts opened under the Jan Dhan scheme they already had debit cards which made the switch easier.

Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak (SSRS) have come forward to help the villagers making the switch to cashless transactions.
