Adding new luxury SUV to its line-up, Land Rover on Thursday introduced Range Rover Velar, which is to be placed between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport in the global market and India.
The new Range Rover may lauch in India this year most likely by the end of this year. The all new Velar is the fourth addition to the Range Rover family. In India the new Range Rover Velar is expected to be launched at an estimated price of Rs 40 lakh mark.
In 1970, at the time of launch of original Range Rover, the Velar SUV was created. It fills the gap between Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The new Velar provides the next logical step in broadening the Range Rover portfolio as it articulates technology-enabled design. Range Rover heritage began with the original Velar prototypes of 1969.
Here are five things you must know about the all new Range Rover Velar
The new Velar comes with a bold front graphic and long bonnet which sets the tone for Velar's exterior design language. The front grille in the car is dominant and it is urther emphasised by slender full-LED headlights which deliver an emphatic slim-line visual signature.
The air inlets on the front bumper and subtle skid plate gives a gist of the Velar's performance and its class-leading all-terrain capability.
The all new Velar comes with fixed and sliding panoramic roof options highlight the Velar's exceptional interior space by allowing natural light to flood in.
Additionally, every Velar is equipped with LED headlights as standard equipment. As well as superior illumination and energy efficiency compared to Bi-Xenon lights, LED technology has also enabled the designers to create the most slender headlight clusters ever fitted to a production Land Rover.
Distinctive daytime-running lights makes the car look more elegant and also enhances the assertive road presence that all Range Rover vehicles command.
The new Range Rover Velar comes in both petrol as well as diesel engine with 3 petrol and 2 diesel variants.
Petrol engine variant of Velar is powered with 2.0 litre Ingenium petrol engine that churns out peak power of 147 bhp and peak torque of 430NM, while a larger engine will churn out 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine will produce maximum power output at 296BHP and maximum torque of 700NM. While, Both the engines will come mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.
On the other hand, the 2.0-litre diesel engine will come with a peak output of 236BHP and 500NM and a 3.0 litre diesel engine that produces 295BHP of power and 700NM of torque.
As far as interiors of the car are concerned, the new Velar comes with a fully engaged new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that features two 10-inch high-definition touchscreen.
If you opt for the top end variant of the Velar, then you will get full extended leather interior trim, Windsor leather seats in Light Oyster or Ebony, 1,600W Meridian Signature Sound System, Matrix-Laser LED headlights and 22-inch split-spoke wheels with diamond-turned finish.
The all new Range Rover Velar comes with a range of 13 exterior colours: Fuji White, Narvik Black, Yulong White, Indus Silver, Corris Grey, Santorini Black, Kaikoura Stone, Byron Blue, Firenze Red, Aruba, Silicon Silver, Carpathian Grey and Flux Silver for the First Edition.
